Renewable Energy Project with OPPD and Creighton University
Creighton University and OPPD have chosen Boyd Jones to partner in a unique project demonstrating the possibilities of renewable energy production and its application for OPPD customers. Both wind and solar technologies are being tested in this project. Boyd Jones will install the wind turbines on the campus lawn and thin film solar laminate and polycrystalline solar panels on building rooftops. The electrical energy produced will be metered and supplied to the University’s high voltage grid system.
Monitoring the production of electricity is an important objective of this project, for both educational and consumer purposes. A tracking system will be installed on the south lawn of the Lied Education Center monitoring real-time kilowatts (kW) and kilowatt-hours generated (kWh), along with weather data. Students and OPPD customers will be able to view this information from several locations on campus and through a website.
This project aligns with Boyd Jones’ dedication to preserving the natural environment by helping our clients make the best decisions affecting their facility’s energy efficiency, employee health and the environment. We routinely work with clients to evaluate the environmental performance from a “whole building” perspective over the building’s life cycle. http://www.boydjonesconstruction.com/article/news/renewable-energy-project-with-oppd-and-creighton-university
